In the wake of sinking stock prices, falling attendance, and plummeting revenue, SeaWorld finally relented and agreed to stop breeding captive orcas—which is exactly what PETA was asking for in our SeaWorld shareholder resolution that we submitted in December. So we are happily withdrawing our resolution calling on SeaWorld to end orca breeding—but we will submit a new shareholder action calling on the abusement park to retire the current captive orcas, whether they can be released into the open ocean or not, to sea sanctuaries, where they can finally have some semblance of a natural life.
